On 04-09-2025 our 50 2nd-year BAMS students from the Department of Agadtantra & VV, RKU, had an incredible educational visit to the Forensic Science Laboratory Rajkot to provide students with practical exposure to the various branches of forensic science and their applications in criminal investigation.

Throughout the visit, students were taken on a guided tour of multiple specialized branches within the laboratory, gaining hands-on knowledge of different forensic techniques. The branches visited included:

  • Handwriting and Fingerprint Analysis: Students learned about the scientific methods used for document examination, signature verification, and the intricate process of identifying and matching fingerprints from crime scenes.
  • Physical Evidence: This section highlighted how trace evidence such as fibers, glass, and soil are collected, preserved, and analyzed to reconstruct crime events.
  • Toxicology: The team was briefed on the procedures for analyzing biological samples to detect the presence of drugs, poisons, and other toxic substances.
  • Biology: The students were introduced to modern forensic biology techniques, including DNA profiling, which plays a pivotal role in linking suspects to crime scenes.
  • Physics and Chemistry: The visit to these branches demonstrated how principles of physics and chemistry are applied to analyze various types of evidence, from explosives to unknown chemical substances.

The visit was highly enriching and educational, allowing students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application. The exposure to advanced equipment and expert-led demonstrations provided a clear understanding of the career possibilities within forensic science.

A special thank you is also extended to Deputy Director Mr. D.B. Changela for her time, valuable insights, and inspiring words. The visit was led by Dr. Pankaj Bhange and Dr. Shivangi Malaviya under the valuable guidance of Director (ACH), Dr. Manoj Pande. . The collective efforts of all involved made this a successful and memorable learning experience for the students.
