On 10th February 2026, the Department of Kayachikitsa hosted an insightful guest lecture focused on Gastroesophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD), featuring the esteemed Dr. Nikunj Patel (MS, FNM GI Surgery) as the keynote speaker. The event was held with a significant turnout, drawing a dedicated audience of approximately 100 participants consisting of IIIrd year students and interns. The primary objective of the session was to provide a comprehensive understanding of GERD, a condition that increasingly affects a wide demographic due to modern lifestyle changes.

The lecture proved to be a remarkable success, as Dr. Patel skillfully bridged the gap between academic theory and clinical application. Rather than focusing solely on textbook definitions, the session provided students with vital practical health insights and the latest surgical perspectives on managing the disorder. Dr. Patel’s ability to break down complex physiological mechanisms into understandable concepts was highly appreciated by the students.

The atmosphere remained highly interactive throughout the afternoon, culminating in an engaging Q&A session. During this period, students had the unique opportunity to interact directly with Dr. Patel, seeking clarification on various clinical scenarios. His approachable demeanor and exceptional clarity in addressing even the most intricate questions left a lasting impression on the audience, fostering a deeper interest in the field of gastroenterology.

The successful conduction of this academic event was made possible through the diligent efforts of Dr. Shreekant Mundada, Dr. Ruksar Piparvadiya, and Dr. Vinita Sharma with support and guidence of our Director Dr Manoj Pande. Their coordination ensured a seamless experience for both the speaker and the attendees.
